Monday Night Showdown: Washington Commanders vs. Baltimore Ravens – Can the Ravens Maintain Their Preseason Streak?

Washington Commanders

The anticipation is building as the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens prepare to close out Week 2 of the NFL preseason on Monday night. This upcoming clash promises to be a thrilling encounter for football enthusiasts.

What makes this game particularly intriguing is that it marks the official debut of Sam Howell as Washington’s starting quarterback. The decision to name him the starter has generated excitement among fans and experts alike. But there’s more to this matchup than just quarterback intrigue.

Last week, these two teams engaged in intense joint practices, and things got heated, to say the least. In one memorable incident, Ravens’ tight end Mark Andrews slammed Commanders’ cornerback Danny Johnson to the turf, leaving an indelible mark on their pre-game encounters. Such moments only add to the anticipation surrounding this game.

Adding an extra layer of intrigue is the Ravens’ remarkable preseason winning streak. They have triumphed in 24 consecutive preseason games, an NFL record that stretches back to 2015. It’s an impressive statistic, no doubt, but some, like Commanders’ offensive guard Sam Cosmi, don’t place much importance on it.

Cosmi bluntly expressed his opinion, stating, “I think it’s a stupid record. I mean, who gives a care about preseason games? I mean, if we beat it, great. We’re gonna beat it, so there you go.” Clearly, Cosmi is unfazed by the Ravens’ preseason dominance and is determined to make a statement on Monday night.

Despite the Ravens’ historic streak, oddsmakers have only given them a 1-point advantage over the Commanders at Caesars Sportsbook. This indicates that the game is expected to be closely contested, adding even more excitement to the matchup.

As the clock ticks toward kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, football fans can’t help but eagerly anticipate what promises to be an electrifying game between the Washington Commanders and the Baltimore Ravens.
